There is a book I recently bought, authored by John MacArthur, which is titled "The Truth War". It's subtitle reads "Fighting for Certainty in an Age of Deception". How true the subtitle really is. We are in the fight of our lives for certainty in this age full of deception. I would like to take a quote from the book.
"Many church-going Christians are innocently caught in the crossfire of teaching and writing that promotes alternative Christian histories, emerging faulty thinking, and a cultural push to eliminate absolute truth altogether. As a result, many have been deceived."
The author goes on to say in another place, "Nothing in all the world is more important or more valuable than the truth. And the church is supposed to be 'the pillar and ground of the truth' (I Timothy 3:15).
Because of all the deception in the religious world many are asking the question, "What is the Truth?" That's a very good question and fortunately I possess the answer to it. The Truth is what we read in the Bible in its completeness. The Truth is not only the parts of the Bible we find it easy to accept, but also the parts of it that may seem hard to accept. There is a scripture which speaks to such.
2 Peter 1:20, 21
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture (Bible verse) is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
The Bible is the Truth because it is God's Word, not the words of men. If God wrote us a letter we wouldn't read all of it and only accept certain parts of it as coming from Him. We would witness His divine signiature at the end and would understand that all of it was written by Him, no matter the content. The same is true with the Truth, the Bible. It's God's letter to us and we must accept all of it as from Him. He signed it with His blood at Calvary.
Do yourself the greatest justice in the world and open up your Bible. Read the Truth for yourself! Attend a church where they declare the whole Bible as Truth and not just part of it. If someone is teaching things other than the Truth, they will mislead you and you will be held accountable for listening to such teachers. I would like to conclude with a couple of verses. Read them with much care and consideration!
2 Timothy 4:3-4
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine ; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
